Pohlhaus (pronounced “pole-house”) is our family name. The Pohlhaus Foundation is a small, hands-on funder providing micro-grants for inclusive learning in STEM, arts, and learner-led education. We back practical ideas that bring people together with curiosity, compassion, and community.

Our Mission

We support learning that invites everyone in. Through micro-grants and community partnerships, we expand access to hands-on projects, creative exploration, and welcoming educational spaces for homeschoolers, unschoolers, and community programs.

Our Story

The foundation grew from a simple belief: small resources, offered with care, can open big doors. For years, our family has volunteered in co-ops, maker spaces, and neighborhood arts groups. We saw how a modest grant—tools for a robotics build, microphones for a music night, notebooks for a science project—can create connection and confidence. The Pohlhaus Foundation exists to make more of those moments possible.

What We Fund

Who We Serve

Individuals, co-ops, community groups, and 501(c)(3) organizations—especially those welcoming new learners or reducing barriers to participation.

How We Give

Our process is friendly and fast. We ask clear questions, keep paperwork light, and offer simple feedback. Most grants range from $250–$2,000 and aim to unlock momentum rather than add work.

Grantmaking Principles

Where We Work
